We celebrate Life, Activity, and Dreams. We are inspired by the freedom of a child’s spirit and design wearable materials for children in order to free other children around the world from a life of abuse, slavery, and hopelessness.
The Idea behind the Mission
I’ve always liked to make things, but I never thought that my little sewing machine could actually build homes for orphans or rescue girls from a life of slavery. In Norway, I grew up making my own Barbie clothes and sewing little things.
Fast-forward 20 years and I was a new mom sewing items for my son to wear. It was cute and fun, but I never thought much of it. In the fall of 2014, I came across the stories of children in Asia whose innocence was destroyed by sex-trafficking. As a new mom, it was heartbreaking. The problem seemed so big and I felt like anything I did would be so small
Around the same time, I was sewing “slouchy beanies” for my son. All of my friends loved them! Everywhere I would go, people would ask me where I got them. I put them up for sale online and in a matter of days, I was overwhelmed with orders.
Now, because of Born Brave, $2 of every product sold goes towards helping orphans and victims of sex-trafficking across the world.
